NHL Betting and Odds

As one of the states’ most popular sports, the National Hockey League continues to grab new fans and bettors every season. If you are new to the wonderful world of pro hockey betting, you have come to the right place.

Read on for a thorough explanation of the most popular NHL plays and how you can start your journey on making some serious dough with hockey. It’s time to get your skates on and head onto the ice!

NHL Betting Moneyline

With hockey’s outcome almost always being close, a moneyline wager is the most popular and easiest to learn. For these wagers, you’ll pick a winner for an NHL game. For example, a team like the Washington Capitals has -110 moneyline odds against the Los Angeles Kings.

In other words, if you wager $110 and the Capitals end up winning, then you’ll win yourself $100.

NHL Betting Against the Spread

Now, here’s where wagering on an NHL game gets exciting. An NHL against the spread bet is also known as the puck line (and the odds are always -1.5/+1.5 because of hockey’s low scores). In other words, the favorite team must win by more than two goals, and the underdog must either win or lose by one goal.

Betting on the puck line provides better payout odds and more cash. For example, the Washington Capitals are -1.5 (+160) over the Los Angeles Kings. A $100 wager on the PL for Washington would return $160. Of course, betting on the PL is a higher risk, but the reward is way higher than the moneyline.

NHL Betting Over / Under

Most Over/Under bets in the NHL usually hoover around the 5.5 goals prediction. In these wagers, you’re placing a bet on the total number of goals scored in a selected game.

If the line is 5.5 and you wish to wager on the over, then the game’s total combined goals must be six or more for you to cash your ticket.
