The Hesitation Surrounding Brady’s 10-year Commentary Contract

According to one industry specialist, NFL icon Tom Brady is said to be weighing his options regarding a $560 million commentary agreement without ever having set foot in a broadcast booth.

The legendary quarterback was offered a 10-year, $375 million USD contract to provide commentary for Fox’s NFL games before announcing his retirement after the 2022 season.

Could Brady Back Out of the Deal?

However, the seven-time Super Bowl winner is reportedly contemplating backing out of the agreement after having already postponed his entry into the commentary world until late 2024.

Inside Scoop from Media Analyst Andrew Marchand

This information comes from media analyst Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, who shared these insights during the latest Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast episode.

First, Marchand doubted Brady’s commitment to the deal, saying there’s a 51% chance he won’t follow through.

Brady’s Concerns: Travel and Family Commitments

According to Marchand, one of the main reasons behind Brady’s reluctance is his desire to avoid extensive travel and his dedication to spending time with his children, whom he shares with his wife, Gisele Bündchen.

In addition, Brady’s thorough approach to his work means that he wouldn’t be content with simply showing up on game day, like some other NFL greats-turned-pundits.

Brady’s Pursuit of Excellence in Commentary

In a conversation with Colin Cowherd on The Herd in February, Brady explained that he wants to excel in commentary, which is why he decided not to join the broadcast booth this season.

However, he expressed gratitude to the leadership at FOX Sports for allowing him to start in the fall of 2024, giving him time to learn and hone his skills.

In a manner reminiscent of the uncertainty surrounding his retirement during his final playing years, Brady’s next move remains a mystery to all.
