BETTING IN CONNECTICUT | Fanduel & Mohegan Sun

The Mohegan Sun debuts America’s #1 Sportsbook with Retail Sports Betting.

Residents and visitors to the state of Connecticut may now use FanDuel Group’s retail sports betting product, which was introduced by Flutter Entertainment plc and Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE).

A short-term Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook retail location at Bow & Arrow Sports Bar opened to the public at 9:30 am ET on Sunday, September 30th, to showcase Connecticut’s new sports gambling law. At a ceremony that included Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, who made a ceremonial first wager.

The temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook, conveniently located near the Autumn entrance at Mohegan Sun, is now open for business. There are four live betting windows and nearly 50 self-service betting terminals. So just in time for Week 4 of the NFL season, Connecticut sports fans now have to opportunity to place a bet.

The establishments anticipate opening the permanent Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook this winter in a refurbished area where the former Mohegan Sun Race Book was located.

This elite sportsbook, set to open in early 2020, aims to set the benchmark for the best sportsbook in Connecticut; it will be 11,000 square feet and include a 140-foot high-resolution video wall and a full bar dining menu. A Race Book area will also be included within the new site.

“To now be able to offer sports betting for Mohegan Sun guests is quite a thrill and a milestone that was a long time in the making,” said Jeff Hamilton, President and General Manager of Mohegan Sun. “This day wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and tireless work from our parent company, MGE, my incredible team at Mohegan Sun, leadership with the Mohegan Tribe, Governor Lamont and the State of Connecticut, and our partners at FanDuel Group. This gaming expansion will bring jobs, excitement and other positive economic impacts to Mohegan Sun and across Connecticut, and we can’t wait to hit the ground running.”

Mohegan Sun’s sportsbook will give sports bettors and guests a fantastic gaming atmosphere that will provide bettors and visitors the opportunity to experience a FanDuel Sportsbook retail encounter. Something that fans in other states have come to love with wagering alternatives available across a wide variety of sporting events.

FanDuel will utilize its own risk and trading technology, which is powered by the IGT PlaySports platform, to allow you to bet on all major U.S. sports, including NFL, NBA, MLB, Tennis, MMA (mixed martial arts), Boxing, Soccer, Golf, Motorsports and more.

MGE and FanDuel will work together on the online casino experience under the Mohegan Sun brand, with an official online opening date to be announced soon.

The Connecticut site follows last month’s news that FanDuel Group, in collaboration with the Phoenix Suns, has launched TVG, a mobile sportsbook and online horse racing and advanced deposit wagering platform, in Arizona.

The opening included a brand-new FanDuel Sportsbook lounge, which is located within the Footprint Center – home of the Phoenix Suns – and features an expanded gaming space. The retail sportsbook is the first of its kind to be located inside an NBA arena, providing additional excitement to Suns games and downtown Phoenix all year.

This makes Arizona and Connecticut the eleventh and twelfth states respectively located within the United States in which FanDuel Sportsbook is available; this allows players to enjoy the FanDuel product in a fun and safe environment. In legal betting states, they join New Jersey, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Tennessee.
